Fort Campbell soldier killed in training accident

A Fort Campbell soldier was killed Wednesday afternoon in a training accident on post. Post officials say the 101st Airborne Division soldier’s unit was conducting routine training when the accident happened about 2 p.m. He was taken to Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The woman charged with six counts of attempted murder and arson for allegedly setting a mobile home on fire in Cerulean in May had an emotional outburst Wednesday morning in Christian Circuit Court. Attorney wants death penalty out in double-murder case

Attorneys for the man accused of killing two Fort Campbell soldiers last year in Oak Grove want the death penalty removed as an option in his case. Another candidate files for Todd Co. school board

Another candidate has filed to run for Todd County School Board. Greg Russell is running in District 3 and will oppose incumbent Johnny Knuckles, who was appointed to the seat. Both are running to fill the remainder of the unexpired term of former chairman Matt Perry, who resigned last year. School board races are non-partisan and candidates have until August 14 to file.
