Two people were displaced by a cooking fire Thursday afternoon on Peppermint Drive. The fire was contained to the kitchen area, but there was enough smoke damage elsewhere in the home at 3408 Peppermint that the two residents could not stay there, according to Hopkinsville Fire Department Captain Michael Pendleton. The Red Cross was called to assist the displaced residents and no one was injured in the blaze.

Planters Bank has donated over $7,000 to Hopkinsville non-profit agencies as a result of the bank's annual Season of Giving. According to a news release, during the season of Season of Giving campaign, 100% of purchases of Kentucky-made bacon and Clarksville-made jams featured in each Planters Bank branch were donated to the non-profits. At the same time, a successful Facebook and Twitter campaign added to the fundraiser. Monday kicks off Severe Weather Awareness Week in Kentucky and the campaign kickoff was held Thursday in Christian County, which was the site of Kentucky’s strongest tornado in 2018.
