Hopkinsville claims awards at Kentucky Recreation and Parks Society luncheon

Several Hopkinsville individuals and a city department were recognized during the Kentucky Recreation and Parks Society award luncheon Wednesday in Louisville. House committee approves budget

The House Appropriations and Revenue Committee approved a biennial budget Wednesday that would restore transportation funding to school systems that had been cut in Governor Matt Bevin’s proposed spending plan. The proposed budget restores about $128 million in SEEK transportation funds, keeping school systems on par with current fiscal year levels for another two years. Trial delayed in Walden rape case

Trial was delayed for former Oak Grove Police Officer Ben Walden Wednesday in Christian Circuit Court as he awaits the completion of evidence testing. 20 years of Substance Abuse Program success celebrated

The Christian County Jail celebrated 20 years of existence of the Substance Abuse Program, or SAP, Wednesday morning with a program at the jail. Registered sex offender sought in Montgomery Co.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help to locate a registered sex offender who is in violation of registry conditions. Deputies executed a search warrant Monday at a 3317 Marrast Drive home in the Poplar Hills Subdivision and discovered evidence that led to a warrant being issued against 32-year old Ashley Canty for violations of the sex offender registry. Three CCHS staff members on leave during investigation

Three Christian County High School staff members are on administrative leave, pending an investigation by the Christian County Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff’s Captain Chris Miller says the investigation that began February 19 is ongoing by the detectives’ division and there have been no charges or arrests at this time. Trial date set for former HPD officer

Daniel Gray, the former Hopkinsville Police officer charged with official misconduct, will go to trial in July after a date was set Wednesday in Christian District Court. Gray appeared with defense attorney Rick Boling, who requested proceedings be continued until a pretrial hearing on July 11. TRIP survey shows area roads need improvement

Representatives of a non-profit organization that analyzes the condition of state and county roads have been in western Kentucky this week.
