Gov announces funds to resurface two Guthrie streets

Two city streets in Guthrie will be resurfaced, thanks to discretionary funds announced Monday by Governor Matt Bevin. He announced at Guthrie City Hall that the city is receiving about $111,000 for resurfacing work on Third Street and Kendall Street, according to Todd County Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield. Governor Bevin had lunch at the L&R Soda Fountain on the Elkton Public Square between his stops in Hopkinsville and Guthrie.

BWA lifted for portion of SE Todd County

Updated: Advisory has been lifted. A Boil Water Advisory has been issued for portion of southeastern Todd County. It’s due to a main line repair and includes an area between the 6800 and 7800 block of Russellville Road, and 0-to-4000 Hadensville Road, according to the Todd County Water District. Water should be allowed to boil for at least three minutes prior to consumption in those areas.

Big Read featuring “Our Town” gets underway

The sixth Big Read event officially got underway in Hopkinsville Monday evening with a performance and exhibit at the Alhambra Theatre. Nortonville man charged with cultivating marijuana

A Nortonville man is facing numerous charges after he was allegedly found to have 17 marijuana plants growing at a residence on Mannington Loop. League of Women Voters to host Supreme Court forum

The Hopkinsville-Christian County League of Women Voters has announced a forum for the candidates running in the non-partisan election for the Kentucky Supreme Court. Senator Whitney Westerfield and Court of Appeals Judge Shea Nickell will meet in a forum set for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 16 at the Hopkinsville Municipal Center. Westerfield and Nickell are running to fill the unexpired term of Justice Bill Cunningham, who retired earlier this year.

Todd Central welcomes Shelton as new baseball coach

Greg Shelton is returning to Kentucky to take over the Rebels program. Shelton will begin his 44th season as a head coach next spring. He most recently served as head coach at South Fort Myers High School in South Myers, Florida. He won 678 games while coach at Franklin Simpson from 1976-2004. Todd Central names Andrews new Lady Rebels softball coach

Former Todd Central student/athlete Michael Andrews has been named as the Lady Rebels softball coach for the 2020 season. Andrews spent many years with Webster County’s softball program and worked in the 2018 and ’19 seasons as assistant baseball coach at Todd Central. He returned to Todd Central in 2017 and worked two seasons as assistant boys basketball coach.
