HPD: Man shot, investigation underway

The Hopkinsville Police Department is investigating after a man went to Jennie Stuart Medical Center Sunday evening for a gunshot wound. According to Hopkinsville Public Information Officer Mike Atkins, 21-year old Deonte Taylor went to Jennie Stuart for a gunshot wound to his leg, and told officers he was shot on High Street. No descriptions of a suspect were immediately available and investigation continues.

U.S. Attorney intends to review some Bevin pardons

The United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky intends to look into pardons that were issued by former Governor Matt Bevin in his final days in office. Former CCHS Colonel Mason honored for play at Campbellsville University

photo credit: Campbellsville University Former Christian County standout Tiavey Mason-now of Campbellsville University-was named Monday as the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week. Mason had a career high 25 points in the Tigers win over Miami University-Hamilton Sunday night. It’s the first time Mason has received the honor. Campbellsville is 10-5 on the season and opens Mid-South Conference play hosting Cumberland University on Saturday.

OVC weekly honors presented to Austin Peay & Murray State women’s basketball members

Austin Peay and Murray State women’s players were honored by the Ohio Valley Conference Monday. Austin Peay’s Arielle Gonzalez-Varner was named the Women’s Player of the Week while teammate Shay-Lee Kirby earned Co-Freshman of the Week honors. Murray State’s Laci Hawthorne was named the OVC Newcomer of the Week. Both teams begin OVC play Thursday night with Austin Peay hosting Southeast Missouri and Murray State welcomes UT Martin.

Titans running back Henry receives AFC weekly honor

Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry has been named the AFC’s Offensive Player of the Week. The NFL’s leading rusher for the season had 211 yards and three touchdowns in 32 carries in Sunday’s win at Houston. The Titans face the New England Patriots in the opening round of the AFC playoffs Saturday night in Foxboro.

Reports: Reds sign Japanese outfielder Akiyama

The Cincinnati Reds announced they have reached a contract agreement with Japanese outfielder Shogo Akiyama. Japanese news outlets said Monday that Akiyama had signed a three-year deal worth between 15-million and 20-million dollars.
