State historical marker to be placed in honor of Madisonville church

The Kentucky Historical Society intends to unveil a new state historical marker in Madisonville celebrating the oldest African American church in Hopkins County. Murray man killed in accident

A Murray man was killed in an accident Thursday night in Calloway County. It happened about 8:15 p.m. and the Calloway County Sheriff’s Department says 38-year old Jonathan McClure of Murray was northbound on Flint Road when his pickup crossed the center line and went off the left side of the pavement. The truck hit two culverts and rolled twice. McClure was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hopkinsville police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who confronted a woman at Walmart while impersonating a store employee Thursday night. Man indicted for rape, unlawful imprisonment

A Christian County Grand Jury returned an indictment Friday morning for rape and unlawful imprisonment against a local man. The indictment against 44-year old James Sanders of Hopkinsville also includes a charge of intimidating a participant in a legal process. Sen. Westerfield supports bill banning sanctuary cities

Senator Whitney Westerfield of Christian County chairs the Judiciary Committee that forwarded on a bill Thursday banning sanctuary cities in Kentucky and says it’s about making sure federal law is followed.
