Reports from Owensboro indicate Apollo High will be searching for a new football coach. Phillip Hawkins tendered his resignation earlier this week indicating he wanted to return to central Kentucky to be closer to his family. Hawkins was 9-13 in his two seasons at Apollo.

For the first time in franchise history, the Nashville Predators will play outdoors today in the Winter Classic against the Dallas Stars. The game will be played in the Cotton Bowl Stadium, which hosted many Cotton Bowl games for years on New Year’s Day. It’s only the second meeting of the season between the teams. The PGA Tour is beginning a new year by announcing a 10-year deal with Sentry Insurance as title sponsor of the Tournament of Champions, making Kapalua the home of PGA Tour winners through at least the end of the next decade.
