CCHD reporting 91 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 62 recoveries

The Christian County Health Department is reporting that Christian County is at 91 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in their Thursday update. Jennie Stuart Health will begin the process of reopening services that had been shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic starting on May 4. According to a news release, the first phase will include resuming operations of outpatient services at the Medical Imaging Center and Express Lab on Eagle Way. Summer orientations going virtual at MSU

Summer orientation and admissions will look different for students intending to attend Murray State University in 2020, as most things will take place virtually. Report: NCAA Transfer rule appears to not have much support

ESPN reports the NCAA Division One Board of Directors is not recommending changes to the current transfer rule process. The Division One Council is expected to vote on a one time waiver soon which would allow student athletes in football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and men’s hockey to transfer and compete immediately at the new school. Currently, an athlete has to sit out a year after transferring.

Top JUCO running back commits to Tennessee

The nation’s top junior college running back announces he is headed to the University of Tennessee. CBS Sports.com reports Tiyon Evans is committing to the Vols. The South Carolina native played last season at Hutchison (KS) Community College. He chose Tennessee over South Carolina and several other schools. Evans is the 14th commitment for the 2021 class.

Austin Peay football receives honors for 2019 season

A final set of honors landed today for Austin Peay’s 2019 football campaign. The Tennessee Sports Writers Association named Governors head coach Mark Hudspeth and cornerback Kordell Jackson its Coach and Player of the Year, respectively.
