Storms down trees, power lines Friday

Storms rolled through western Kentucky Friday afternoon and evening, causing scattered power outages and downed trees. All-Way Stops put at intersections on Central Avenue

There are now more All-Way Stop signs in Hopkinsville, this time on Central Avenue. According to a news release, Hopkinsville Public Works has installed the all-way stop signs at the intersection of Central Avenue at Broad Street, College Street and Jones Street. Motorists are advised to use caution in those areas as traffic adjusts to the changes.

HPD investigating theft of a handgun

The Hopkinsville Police Department is investigating the theft of a handgun from East 12th Street Thursday. According to the police report, a 9 mm handgun was unlawfully taken from the victim sometime Thursday afternoon. No suspect information was available and the incident is being investigated as theft of a firearm.
