Next Movies in the Park is Friday, final showing in mid-August

As the school year approaches, the Movies in the Park series has only two showings left before wrapping up for the summer, with the next one set for Friday. WKU basketball loses another player

Western Kentucky’s basketball team has lost another player. The Bowling Green Daily News reports reserve Marek Nelson announced via Twitter Tuesday he’s leaving the program. The Plano, TX native missed about half of his sophomore season due to a back injury. He is the fifth player from last year’s team to leave the program.

Reds trade pitcher Roark to Oakland

Multiple reports say the Oakland Athletics have traded for starting pitcher Tanner Roark from the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds get center fielder Jameson Hannah in exchange. Roark came to the Reds during the off season. The Reds have been busy just before the trading deadline, acquiring pitcher Trevor Bauer from the Cleveland Indians last night.

Dawson Springs pursuit ends with arrest in Christian County

A high speed pursuit that began in Dawson Springs Tuesday night ended in Christian County with the arrest of a man on several charges. Dawson Springs Police Officer Scott Raup attempted to make a traffic stop on 19-year old Christopher Kirby of Madisonville for speeding just before 10 p.m. on Oak Heights and he did not stop. Proceedings were continued to next Wednesday in the Christian Circuit Courtroom of Judge John Atkins for manslaughter suspect Desiree Catlett, with a resolution possible in her case. Two injured in Hopkins County crash

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department investigated a two-vehicle wreck Tuesday afternoon that injured two people. A news release says Robert Moseley was backing out of a driveway at 6375 Nebo Road after dropping off some mail and drove into the path of a vehicle operated by 53-year old Loretta Alford. Bond reduced for two more Todd County murder suspects

Bond was reduced Wednesday morning for two of the five suspects charged in connection with the September murder of Jerry Robertson on Stateline Road near Allensville. Daniel Westbrook, Douglas Cropper, Timmie Latham, Faith Martin and Brandi Scruggs appeared in Todd Circuit Court Wednesday morning and attorneys for Latham and Scruggs requested bond modification.
