A high speed pursuit that began in Dawson Springs Tuesday night ended in Christian County with the arrest of a man on several charges.
Dawson Springs Police Officer Scott Raup attempted to make a traffic stop on 19-year old Christopher Kirby of Madisonville for speeding just before 10 p.m. on Oak Heights and he did not stop. Officer Raup says Kirby turned east onto US 62 and then south on US 41, heading into Christian County. He reached speeds of over 100 mph during the pursuit that lasted about 20 minutes.
State police used spike strips and brought the vehicle to a stop near Covered Bridge Road between Hopkinsville and Crofton.
The vehicle had been reported stolen the previous night and Kirby is facing several charges including receiving stolen property, fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, wanton endangerment and other counts related to the pursuit.
