Pendleton County’s Allen commits to UK

The Lexington Herald Leader reports Pendleton County senior to be Dontaie Smith is Kentucky’s first in state basketball commitment for 2019. Smith announced his commitment today, just 24 hours after visiting campus. He is the first in state player to commit to the Wildcats since Dominque Hawkins in 2013. Smith averaged 31.3 points per game in his junior season.

UK basketball announces exhibition opponents

Kentucky announced its opponents for its two exhibition games today. The Wildcats will host Transylvania on October 26th and Indiana University Pennsylvania on November 2nd. The Transylvania game will honor CM Newton, who graduated from Transy and was later Kentucky’s athletic director. Tip off times will be announced later. Kentucky heads to the Bahamas for its summer tour next week.

Titans lose safety Cyprien for 2018 season

Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel announced following today’s workout that safety Johnathan Cyprien is out for the season. Cyprien suffered a torn ACL to his left knee in practice Wednesday. Vrabel said he was “devastated” to lose Cyprien due to all the work he put in during the off season.

Cadiz Police hope to ‘pack patrol car’ with school supplies

Photo from Facebook The Cadiz Police Department is hosting a pack the patrol car event Friday to collect school supplies for students in need. Cruisers will be located at Fred’s and Dollar General on Main Street between 4 and 6 p.m. Friday and donors can drop off school supplies with officers at those locations. All donations will go to the Trigg County School System.

New Todd County trash routes begin Friday

Todd County residents who signed up with Waste Industries should have their trash collected by that company for the first time Friday. Man served with felony theft warrant

A warrant for felony theft was served Wednesday against a Hopkinsville man. It alleges that in November of last year, 54-year old Michael Eddy indorsed a check for $4,300 at Planters Bank and he claimed he had won a contest. The check was ultimately returned as not having sufficient funds. Eddy is charged with theft by failure to make required disposition of property.

Report: Man fired pistol during road rage incident

A Pembroke man was arrested for wanton endangerment Tuesday afternoon after he allegedly fired a pistol into the air during an apparent act of road rage.
