UK football gets basketball transfer from Iowa

The Lexington Herald Leader reports Kentucky’s football program is getting a transfer who played basketball three seasons at the University of Iowa. Ahmad Wagner is 6-7, 235 pounds from Yellow Springs, Ohio. Wagner was initially recruited by UK out of high school to play wide receiver. Bob Baffert’s undefeated colt Justify is the favorite at 3-1 for Saturday’s 144th Kentucky Derby. Justify will break from the number 7 spot. Europe-based Mendelssohn, who will break from the number 14 post, is the second choice at 5-1 in a full field of 20 horses. No European bred horse has ever won the Derby.

Dawson Springs man charged with trafficking meth following pursuit

A Dawson Springs man was arrested by the Madisonville Police Department Monday on multiple drug charges following a brief pursuit that ended in a wreck. According to a news release, officers attempted to stop a motorcycle driven by 30-year old Dustin Suttle of Dawson Springs that was being operated down a sidewalk on Anton Road. Deer causes Woodmill Road accident

A deer in the road caused a single-vehicle accident Monday night on Woodmill Road that injured two people. The collision report says 37-year old Sean Hrehor of Hopkinsville was northbound when he swerved to miss a deer that ran into his path.
