CCHD reports 11 new COVID-19 cases, vaccine clinics in April

The Christian County Health Department reported 11 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, and announced new vaccine clinics happening in April. Those 11 new cases brings the overall total up to 6,611—of that, 165 cases are considered active and 6,356 people have recovered from the virus.  Christian County has had 90 COVID-19 related deaths. Third Region winner Muhlenberg County was eliminated at the Boys Sweet 16 today, falling to Highlands 88-60. Nash Divine led the Mustangs with 21 points as Muhlenberg County finishes the season 19-2. Local state legislators believe the 2021 session of the Kentucky General Assembly that concluded Tuesday night was successful—especially considering the unusual circumstances of having to pass a one-year budget during a pandemic. ESPN reports Western Kentucky’s Charles Bassey announced today he is forgoing the remainder of his college eligibility and entering the NBA Draft. He averaged 17.6 points, 11.6 rebounds and 3.1 blocks this season. UK women’s coach Elzy honored with award

University of Kentucky women’s head coach Kyra Elzy was named Wednesday as the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s Division One Rookie Coach of the Year. Elzy led Kentucky to 18 wins, the most by any first year coach in the nation. UK finished the season 18-9 and an appearance in the NCAA tournament.
