Seventy CCPS students recognized for band achievements

Seventy Christian County Public Schools students have been recognized for their achievements in band. Fifty-seven students have been selected to the KMEA Third District Band and 70 received all-district recognition. Unemployment dropped in all nine Pennyrile counties last month

Unemployment dropped from September to October in all nine Pennyrile counties. Christian County’s jobless rate was 4.5 percent, down from 4.9 percent in September and down from 5.3 percent one year ago. It equated to 1,118 people who were looking for work and unable to find it. New pavilion dedicated at Jeffers Bend

A dedication was held Wednesday for the new pavilion at Jeffers Bend Environmental Center. The 30 by 40-foot pavilion will be used at a variety of events including the water festival, Take Kids Fishing, Christmas at the Bend, Naturefest and Torchlight Tales. Exhaust fan thought to have started Barkley Lodge fire

The fire that damaged a large section of the Lake Barkley Lodge Saturday morning likely began with a faulty exhaust fan. That’s the preliminary result of an investigation by the state fire marshal, according to Kentucky State Parks Spokesperson Danielle Jones, who says approximately 60 rooms were damaged. She says information regarding the reopening of the undamaged portion of the lodge will be released in the coming days.
