Jury seated in Christian Martin trial

A jury was seated Wednesday morning in Hardin County in the trial of Pembroke triple-murder suspect Christian “Kit” Martin. Local senior centers plan to reopen to public July 1

Plans are in place to reopen the senior centers in the Pennyrile region—including in Christian, Todd and Trigg counties—on July 1. Public library expands Book-A-Bike program locations, decrease in cost

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library has made changes to the Book-A-Bike Program, including a new location for check-outs. According to a news release, all bike checkouts are $1 for both library card holders and non-library card holders. Rain a factor in accident that injured Hopkinsville man

Rain was a factor in a single-vehicle accident Wednesday morning on the Pennyrile Parkway that injured a Hopkinsville man. Christian County Sheriff’s Sgt. Adam Vanderkolk says 21-year old Tyshawn Banks of Hopkinsville had been southbound near the 13 mile-marker a few minuets after 7 o’clock when his vehicle hydroplaned. https://media.socastsrm.com/wordpress/wp-content/blogs.dir/1411/files/2021/06/vanderkolkrain.mp3 No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

McConnell Stands By Decision To Oppose January 6th Commission

Homes struck by gunfire on Central Avenue

Hopkinsville police are investigating after two homes were struck by gunfire early Wednesday morning on Central Avenue. It happened about 4:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Central and an incident report says none of the people in either house were injured in the shooting. At least one bullet was recovered and siding and drywall were damaged on both homes. No suspects are named on the report.

Caldwell County wins 7th district baseball title, other games rained out

The only game played Tuesday was the 7th District baseball final as Caldwell County avenged a regular season loss to Madisonville with a 5-0 victory. Both teams will play in the 2nd Region tournament that is scheduled to begin Saturday at University Heights Academy. Meanwhile, the 7th District softball final and the 6th District Baseball final and softball semifinal were all rained out.

One day after beating the Philadelphia Philles, Philadelphia came back with a 17-3 blowout victory over the Cincinnati Reds. The Phillies hit seven home runs, as they pounded out 18 hits, with half of them for extra bases.
