Fort Campbell soldier killed in non-combat incident in Syria

A Fort Campbell soldier died Monday from wounds sustained in a non-combat-related incident in Syria. The Department of Defense identifies him as 28-year old Private First Class Michael Thomason of Lincoln Park, Michigan. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and was in Syria in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

Titans’ Bates has a May court appearance

Tennessee Titans linebacker Daren Bates is facing a marijuana possession charge. Bates was cited in Hendersonville in February and is due in court on May 28th. Bates has spent the past two seasons with the Titans and has not missed a game. In other team news, the Titans waived defensive tackle Darius Kilgo yesterday.

Kentucky Derby post positions to be drawn today

Post positions for Saturday’s 145th Kentucky Derby will be drawn today at Churchill Downs. Omaha Beach and Roadster are considered the early favorites. Bellafina is the 2-1 morning line favorite for the 145th Kentucky Oaks after drawing the number four post position in the marquee race for 3-year-old fillies at Churchill Downs. Friday's $1.25 million race will be run over 1 1/8 miles.

Woman arrested for meth possession in Todd County

A traffic stop on Greenville Road in Todd County Monday afternoon led to the arrest of a woman on methamphetamine charges. Todd County Sheriff’s Sgt. Patrick Turner stopped 50-year old Phyllis Ford of Lewisburg near Heltsley Lane for a traffic violation, according to an arrest citation, which says she did not have a driver’s license in her possession and gave consent to search her car. Two hurt in Logan County collision

Two Adairville residents were injured in a two-vehicle wreck in Logan County Sunday evening in the 2200 block of Schley Road.
