Hopkinsville man charged in assault of mother-in-law

A Hopkinsville man is facing an assault charge after he allegedly assaulted his mother-in-law on July 16. According to the report from the Hopkinsville Police Department, 32-year-old James Overton of Hopkinsville allegedly became intoxicated and then assaulted his mother-in-law, causing her to fall and break her collarbone. The incident occurred in the 200 block of North Drive on July 16. He was arrested on Wednesday and charged with second-degree assault.
