Faulty space heater may be to blame for fatal fire in McLean Co.

Investigators believe a faulty space heater may have been to blame for a residential structure fire from early Saturday morning in the Sacramento community of McLean County that killed one person. Fire destroys tobacco barn near Pembroke

Fire destroyed a tobacco barn on Salubria Springs Road near Pembroke Saturday night. Officials say the Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department responded around 10 p.m. and were assisted by firefighters from Highland, Honey Grove and Fairview. There were no reports of any injuries in the blaze.

HCC hosts grand opening for Flexible Training Center

Hopkinsville Community College hosted a grand opening and ribbon-cutting Saturday for its Flexible Training Center. Hopkinsville Community College, Christian County Public Schools and Christian County Chamber collaborated to submit a Work Ready Skills Initiative grant proposal, which was funded by the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet for nearly $4.3 million in 2017. Nearly $70k raised at Relay for Life

Nearly $70,000 was raised at Friday night’s Christian County Relay for Life. It was inside the Hopkinsville SportsPlex and Pam Futrell says the fundraising total was $69,924.55. All of the money goes to the American Cancer Society in hopes of one day finding a cure. Crystal Hightower was this year’s Relay chair.

Hopkinsville man arrested on felony assault charge

A Hopkinsville man was arrested for felony assault early Saturday morning after he allegedly struck his fiancé with a baseball bat. An arrest citation says the victim told Hopkinsville police that 21-year old Gilberto Gomez became angry when she said she wasn’t going to keep drinking alcohol with him and that a physical altercation ensued and Gomez kicked her out of the home on South Jessup Street.
