Trash service employee killed in Lyon County crash

An employee of WCA/GFL Waste Services, which provides garbage collection services in Christian, Trigg, Caldwell and Lyon counties, died in an accident Thursday in Lyon County. It happened on US 642 about a mile and a half north of Eddyville and involved a garbage truck and a semi, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. Court of Appeals rules against Alexander in perjury case

The Kentucky Court of Appeals has denied a petition requesting that they force Christian Circuit Judge John Atkins to grant a previous motion to dismiss a forgery charge against retired Hopkinsville Police Lt. Jefferson Alexander. A grand jury indictment was returned in March of 2019 against Alexander for first-degree perjury. CCHD reports seven new cases of COVID-19

The Christian County Health Department reported seven new cases of COVID-19 locally Thursday during a weekly update. That brings the overall total in the county up to 7,143—of that, only 23 cases are considered active and 7,019 people have recovered from the virus.  Christian County has had 101 COVID-19 related deaths. To date, the health department has administered a total of 27,297 vaccines.
