Three Christian County Public School System students have received college scholarships for their excellence in music. Man arrested for strangulation, assault

An investigation by Hopkinsville police Sunday night on Bryan Street ended with the arrest of a man on assault and strangulation charges. An incident report alleges that 44-year old Alprestonia Butler of Hopkinsville struck his 43-year old girlfriend on the head and strangled her at about 9 p.m. Sunday at a location in the 1700 block of Bryan Street. The Tennessee Vols and Vanderbilt Commodores know their regional foes in the NCAA Tournament after the regional groups were announced today. Tennessee hosts a regional and will face Wright State Friday with Duke and Liberty in the other contest. Vanderbilt also hosts a regional and will play Presbyterian Friday with Georgia Tech and Indiana State in the other contest.

Reds rout Phillies in series opener Monday night

The Cincinnati Reds used a combination of hot-hitting and strong pitching in an 11-1 blowout victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
