KBE wants KHSAA to expand Covid-19 guidance

Following last Friday’s almost four hour meeting, the Kentucky Board of Education sent a letter to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Monday. The board is asking the KHSAA to consider expanding COVID-19 guidance; new and revised advice to districts on local enforcement, handling positive cases, game attendance and statewide athlete testing protocols for players and coaches before the fall sports season next week.

Game times announced for some UK football games today

Game times have been announced for three of the University of Kentucky’s first six games of the season. The September 26th game at Auburn will kick off at 11 am, with the October 3rd home opener against Ole Miss kicking off at 3 pm Central and the October 31st game at Missouri starting at 11 am Central. All UK games can be heard on Lite Rock 98.7 and lite987whop.com.

Game times were announced today for five of the University of Louisville’s games. The season opener against Western Kentucky will kick off from Cardinal Stadium on September 12th at 7 pm Central time. The ACC opener against Miami will begin at 2:30 or 6:30 pm September 19th. Vanderbilt loses another football player today

Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason said today graduate transfer offensive lineman Stephen Spanellis has opted out of playing this season. Spanellis transferred from Michigan earlier this year. He’s the fourth potential starting offensive lineman to opt out of playing this season.

One of the pre-race favorites for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby-Art Collector-will not run at Churchill Downs. Trainer Tom Drury says the horse is suffering from a “minor foot issue.” Art Collector won the Bluegrass Stakes and the Ellis Park Derby earlier in the summer. Kentucky has added 21,548 registered voters since primary

Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams says Kentucky’s number of registered voters increased slightly following the June primary election. From June 24, when the voter rolls reopened after the primary election, through July 31, a net 21,548 voters were added, for a current total of 3,497,941 registered voters. KSP targeting aggressive drivers during TACT campaign

Kentucky State Police has begun it Ticketing Aggressive Cars and Trucks—or TACT—campaign in an effort to reduce the number of accidents involving commercial vehicles. North Todd principal talks about start of school year

North Todd Elementary School Principal Bruce Voth says the start of the new academic year with non-traditional instruction has gotten off to a positive start, but he’s looking forward to hopefully seeing students back in the building next month. Hopkinsville man served with Logan County meth trafficking indictment

A Logan County grand jury indictment for drug trafficking was served Monday against a Hopkinsville man. The indictment warrant for trafficking in methamphetamine and marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia was served by Hopkinsville police against 44-year old Robert Skipworth at an East Ninth Street location. He was lodged in the Christian County Jail on a $3,000 bond.
