Eric Embry to continue leading Pennyroyal Center

The Pennroyal Center Board of Directors has chosen Eric Embry as its permanent executive director. Embry had been serving in an interim capacity since the resignation of Ian McFadden in July. He has 18 years of experience at the Pennyroyal Center and previously served as chief operating officer before taking the interim post. Embry, his wife, and three children live in Hopkinsville.

UL wide receiver Smith to play in Reese’s Senior Bowl

University of Louisville wide receiver Jaylen Smith has accepted an invitation to play in the Reese’s Senior Bowl. The Mississippi native is coming off a senior season that saw him lead the team with 36 receptions for 550 yards and one touchdown. The Senior Bowl game takes place on January 26th in Mobile, AL.

U of L now looking at Satterfield as football coach

A new name that’s surfacing for the U of L coaching vacancy is Scott Satterfield, currently the head coach at Appalachian State of the Sun Belt Conference. Satterfield’s name is also being tossed about at Georgia Tech, who will replace Paul Johnson after the Yellow Jackets upcoming bowl appearance. Appalachian State hosts Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns in the Sun Belt Conference championship game Saturday.

Stansbury to make point guard change for WKU

The Bowling Green Daily News reports WKU coach Rick Stansbury is making a change at point guard. Tavieon Hollingsworth will take over the duties when the Hilltoppers return to the floor Saturday afternoon against Tennessee State. By the way, freshman Charles Bassey is second in the nation among rookies averaging 10 rebounds a game and is one of two freshman averaging a double-double at nearly 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Austin Peay announces 2019 baseball schedule which includes UK

Austin Peay unveiled its 2019 schedule today. The slate includes a season opening series against the University of Kentucky in Clarksville February 15-17 at Raymond C. Hand Park. The Governors will open Ohio Valley Conference play with a three game series at Murray State March 8-10 and play Tennessee Tech in the home opening OVC series March 15-17.

Titans having problems protecting QB Mariota

The Tennessee Titans have an issue protecting their quarterback with Marcus Mariota taking hits from defenses he hasn't experienced since his rookie season. Mariota was sacked 38 times in 12 games in 2015 with 17 coming in a four-game stretch early that season. Tennessee has allowed an NFL-worst 39 sacks with 17 in the four games since the team's bye. HFD to collect toys for kids at Walmart Friday, Saturday

Members of the Hopkinsville Fire Department will be at the Walmart Supercenter Friday and Saturday collecting toys for their Christmas for Kids program. They will be there from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day and will be accepting toys for ages 3 months to 15 years. Organizers say bicycle helmets are a much needed item.
