Barnes transitioning into Trigg sheriff role

The transition process is beginning for Jason Barnes to become the next Trigg County sheriff. Sheriff Ray Burnam, who lost to Barnes in the Republican primary, says Barnes will be sworn in as a deputy Thursday to begin the transition process with the current sheriff through the month of November. Western Kentucky won its 27th consecutive exhibition game last night with a 91-66 victory over Campbellsville University. Josh Anderson led the Hilltoppers with 22 points with Austin Peay transfer Jared Savage adding 19. Motorcyclist killed in Marshall County accident

A motorcyclist was killed in an accident Tuesday night in Marshall County. Kentucky State Police investigated and determined 44-year old Christopher McLeod of Benton had been southbound on Old Olive Road about two miles south of US 68 when he ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a fence. Western Kentucky’s Ben Holt is one of nearly 70 nominees for the Burlsworth Trophy. The linebacker is fourth in Conference USA in tackles with 75. The Burlsworth Trophy is presented to the most outstanding player that began his career as a walk on. WKU returns to action Friday night at Middle Tennessee.
