Legislators approve budget, tax reform, foster care/adoption reform

On a day thousands of Kentucky teachers traveled to Frankfort to protest last week’s pension bill, tax reform and a biennial budget made it to the governor’s desk following action by the House and Senate. Senate honors Officer Meacham

The Kentucky Senate paused Tuesday in remembrance of fallen Hopkinsville Police Officer Phillip Meacham. Stolen vehicle located in Todd County

A stolen SUV was recovered Monday in Todd County. Todd County Sheriff’s Sgt. Patrick Turner investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle on Rattlesnake Road and located the 2007 Saturn SUV down a steep hill. A computer check revealed the SUV was reported stolen in January, 2017 in Clarksville. The investigation into the vehicle continues.

Paving set to begin on several Hopkinsville streets

Hopkinsville Public Works will be removing asphalt on several streets starting Tuesday to make way for repaving efforts. According to a news release, the department will begin removing asphalt on Easts Fifth Street from Campbell Street to the railroad tracks, then from Liberty to South Virginia. Clarksville crossing guard hit by vehicle

A crossing guard at Rossview High School in Clarksville was taken to a Nashville hospital after she was struck by a vehicle Monday morning. It happened about 7:30 a.m. on Rossview Road, according to Clarksville Police, who say the crossing guard had the stop sign displayed for westbound traffic. KYTC names District 2 chief engineer

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has named Deneatra Henderson as Chief District Engineer for the District 2 highway office in Madisonville. Henderson most recently served as planning supervisor at the KYTC District 3 office in Bowling Green. Henderson is the first female to be named chief engineer in District 2. HPD investigating armed robbery

The Hopkinsville Police Department is investigating a Friday armed robbery at the Roadway Inn on Fort Campbell Boulevard. According to the report, Steve McDonald told police a suspect had threatened him with a knife and used physical force to steal around $20 from him. A suspect’s name and description are redacted on the police report and in the investigation continues.

Woman served with warrant for burglary

The Christian County Sheriff’s Department served an arrest warrant against a Drakesboro woman Friday. According to the police report, the warrant was served against Mary Evans of Drakesboro. It states that she unlawfully and knowingly entered in a residence in Drakesboro with the intent to commit a crime. Evans was charged with second-degree burglary and lodged in the Christian County Jail.

Justice Center to close from 10:30-12:30 Wed. for Officer Meacham funeral

The Christian County Justice Center will close for about two hours Wednesday to allow employees and staff to attend the funeral of Hopkinsville Police Officer Phillip Meacham. The Justice Center will close at 10:30 a.m. and reopen at approximately 12:30, according to Christian District Judge Foster Cotthoff, who says district court jurors do not need to report on Wednesday.
