Parks and Recreation to host grand opening celebration for Rotary Park

Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation is inviting the community to a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of Rotary Park in April. Rotary Park neighbors the Pardue Lane Dog Park and includes sidewalk trails and a playground that promotes inclusive play for all ages. Annual Christmas parade takes over downtown Hopkinsville

The frigid temperatures did not kill the holiday spirit as folks still crowded downtown Hopkinsville for Parks and Recreation’s annual Hopkinsville Electric System Nighttime Christmas Parade and the tree lighting ceremony on Saturday. Annual Turkey Trot draws large crowd to downtown Hopkinsville

Despite the frigid temperatures, runners, walkers and bicycle riders crowded downtown Hopkinsville Thursday morning for Parks and Recreation’s 24th annual Turkey Trot. Folks gathered at Founders Square to get registered before the 3-mile Turkey Trot started on South Main Street near the intersection of 9th Street. Community hosts ribbon cutting for newly dedicated Fred Atkins Park

Second Street Park was renamed to Fred Atkins Park to honor the late Hopkinsville City Council Member, and on Tuesday, community members attended a dedication ceremony for the park.  Fred Atkins was a Hopkinsville native and served on Hopkinsville’s City Council from 1999 to 2012 representing Ward 1, where the park is located.
