Graves County spoils Heights’ volleyball opener

University Heights Academy opened the 2026 high school volleyball season Tuesday night with a 3-1 loss to host Graves County in Mayfield. 

The Lady Blazers had hoped to give their head coach Faye Hendricks a birthday win.

The Lady Eagles spoiled the party plans as they won the first set 30-28 before claiming a 25-15 win in the second set. 

UHA fought off elimination by winning the third set 25-23. However, Graves County closed out the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth set. 

The Lady Blazers return to action tonight at Todd County Central. The game was originally scheduled for Thursday night.
