Madisonville-North Hopkins scored two goals in the first five minutes and then held off a furious comeback from visiting University Heights Academy to claim a 4-3 boys’ high school soccer win Tuesday night.
Cal Givens had a goal to cut the lead to 2-1, but an own goal sent the Maroons to the halftime break with a 3-1 advantage.
The Blazers had several opportunities early in the second half with two shots hitting off the post. Graham Conrad found the back of the net to make it 3-2.
However, the Maroons were able to score again for a 4-2 advantage.
Graham Conrad took a pass from his brother, Jack Conrad, and scored to make it 4-3. However, that was as close as the Blazers could get.
Hayden Fitzsimmons had one save in goal for UHA, which is scheduled to play host to Foundation Christian Thursday night.
