The Christian County Tigers’ football team will try to iron out the final preseason wrinkles as it will travel to Louisville tonight to take on a talented DuPont Manual squad at Memorial Stadium.
Tigers’ Head Coach Dustin Lopez said he hopes to see improvement on the offensive side of the ball tonight, a week after his team struggled against Clarksville Northeast.
Last week in the team’s first scrimmage, the Tigers had two touchdowns called back due to penalties. Their only score came on a fumble return by DeAsian Harris.
Lopez said he and his team felt some pressure to perform well in their first outing and that may have led to some of the miscues. He said he did like his team’s energy last week and he looks forward to seeing the Tigers’ improvement this week.
The Crimsons return several key players on offense including senior quarterback Kaden Mack, who passed for 1,2080 and accounted for 28 touchdowns last season. Senior running back Jeremy Presley ran for 671 yards and nine scores. At wide receiver, Manual is led by seniors Brayland Miles (30 catches, 418 yards) and Noah Price (24 catches, 372 yards).
Manual also is strong up front with three returning seniors, including Jamiez Edwards, who is 6-foot-5, 310 pounds.
The Crimsons return six starters including senior lineman C.J. Hall, who has offers from Akron, Brown, Dartmouth, Eastern Kentucky, Miami (Ohio), and UT-Martin.
The scrimmage is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. Central Time.
This is the final scrimmage before the season opener Aug. 21 against Cooper at the Stadium of Champions. Next week’s game is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m.
