Colonel swim teams take part in Rick Cohn Invitational

The Christian County and Hopkinsville high school swim teams played host to the annual Rick Cohn Invitational at Hopkinsville High School. The Colonels and Lady Colonels did not score in the event, which had 11 teams. Lady Tigers take 3rd at Rick Cohn Invitational

The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers’ swim team finished third place in the annual Rick Cohn Invitational held Saturday at the Rick Cohn Aquatic Center at Hopkinsville High School. Hopkinsville’s Grace Cansler finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke. The Lady Tigers’ Lily Johnston and Cansler also earned top-five finishes in the women’s 50-yard freestyle. EF-1 tornado touches down in Todd County

A tornado landed in north Guthrie early Saturday morning and traveled for over a mile, resulting in snapped trees and power poles and some damaged buildings.  According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, the tornado touched down at 12:38 a.m. and dispersed by 12:41 a.m. The tornado was categorized as an EF-1 and had peak winds of 98 mph.  An outbuilding was destroyed, and other small buildings suffered damage. Local grand jury issues indictments for murder, assault crimes

A Christian County Grand Jury issued indictments for murder, rape and assault crimes on Friday. Thirty-four-year-old Eiesha Whitlock of Hopkinsville received a superseding indictment for murder and leaving the scene of an accident without rendering any aid after she reportedly hit and killed 29-year-old Daquan Butler of Pembroke with her car in Pembroke on December 14, 2024.
