photo credit: Twitter Murray State basketball received a commitment today from Queens University 6-8 forward Jamari Smith. Smith averaged more than 17 points and seven rebounds per game last season and shot 51 percent from the field and 40 percent from three point range.

Five more teams have been announced for the Best of the West 7 on 7 passing tournament coming to the Stadium of Champions this summer. Kentucky Class 3-A runner up Paducah Tilghman, Muhlenberg County, Northeast from Clarksville, Whites Creek from Nashville and the West Carroll (TN) War Eagles will be coming to the event to be held July 16-17.

Baseball: University Heights visits Caldwell County, Christian County travels to Muhlenberg County, Trigg County meets Union City, TN and Madisonville goes to Hopkins Central. Softball: Christian County welcomes Marshall County, Hopkinsville travels to Fort Campbell for 8th district action, Caldwell County goes to Hopkins Central, Dawson Springs plays a doubleheader at Webster County, Madisonville hosts Daviess County.

Kentucky Sports Radio reports Zan Payne-the son of new Louisville coach Kenny Payne-is transferring from Kentucky. Zan Payne came to Kentucky before the 2018-19 season out of Lexington Catholic. He sat out in 2019-20 due to a knee injury he suffered during his final year of high school. Payne played in nine games for the Wildcats last season.
