NFL teams won't be going too far for training camp this year. Multiple reports say the league has notified teams that they must hold training camp at their main team facilities. The NFL also ruled joint practices can't be held as it aims to isolate teams during camp amid the ongoing coronavirus.
Only the top 22 teams will resume play in the NBA proposal to return to play this season. The Memphis Grizzlies are one of those teams. The 22-team model will be presented by Commissioner Adam Silver to the league's board of governors for a vote tomorrow. Dover Motorsports announced yesterday Nashville Superspeedway will reopen with a schedule next year to include a NASCAR Cup Series race. June 21st, 2021 is the tentative date for the NASCAR Cup Series race at the track about 30 miles from Nashville. The track has mostly been closed to racing since 2011. Other races are also planned at the track next year.
According to reports, Major League Soccer and the MLS Players Association are nearing an agreement on economic concessions to avoid a lockout. If approved, MLS teams would hold a tournament in the Orlando area beginning in late June. Games would be played without fans. Nashville SC is a first-year MLS expansion team.
Hopkinsville City Council approved first reading of a budget Tuesday night and deferred action on an ordinance to transition to non-partisan local elections in 2022. A Hopkinsville man accused of having about $50,000 worth of stolen property was arrested Monday. HPD executed a search warrant at the home of 50-year old Jody Blake of Hopkinsville and an arrest citation says officers found methamphetamine, scales and a shotgun. A man died in a farming accident Monday in Trigg County. Deputy Coroner Matthew Phillips responded to the Laurel Furnace Road area of Land Between the Lakes and identified the victim as 79-year old Bobby Cunningham of Dexter, according to a news release, which says Cunningham was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is under investigation by the Trigg County Coroner’s Office.
All three Christian County School Board seats on the November ballot will be contested and Walter Shamble is running again for mayor of Hopkinsville. Shamble has campaigned as an independent for mayor during the last several mayoral elections and describes himself as a voice for the poor.
