NASCAR returning to the Music City in 2021

Dover Motorsports announced yesterday Nashville Superspeedway will reopen with a schedule next year to include a NASCAR Cup Series race. June 21st, 2021 is the tentative date for the NASCAR Cup Series race at the track about 30 miles from Nashville. The track has mostly been closed to racing since 2011. Other races are also planned at the track next year.

Report: MLS nearing agreement to restart season

According to reports, Major League Soccer and the MLS Players Association are nearing an agreement on economic concessions to avoid a lockout. If approved, MLS teams would hold a tournament in the Orlando area beginning in late June. Games would be played without fans. Nashville SC is a first-year MLS expansion team.

Police: Man had $50k in stolen property

A Hopkinsville man accused of having about $50,000 worth of stolen property was arrested Monday. HPD executed a search warrant at the home of 50-year old Jody Blake of Hopkinsville and an arrest citation says officers found methamphetamine, scales and a shotgun. Man dies in Trigg Co. farming accident

A man died in a farming accident Monday in Trigg County. Deputy Coroner Matthew Phillips responded to the Laurel Furnace Road area of Land Between the Lakes and identified the victim as 79-year old Bobby Cunningham of Dexter, according to a news release, which says Cunningham was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is under investigation by the Trigg County Coroner’s Office.
