The Nashville Predators have recalled defenseman Alexandre Carrier from the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League. Carrier will fill the spot of Ryan Ellis, who was placed on injured reserve after suffering an upper body injury in the Winter Classic against Dallas on Wednesday.
Former state Representative Jeff Taylor of Hopkinsville has been appointed as Commissioner for Business Development in the Cabinet for Economic Development by Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear. Christian County lost in its opening game of the CFSB New Year’s Bash at Graves County to Paducah Tilghman today 70-67. The Colonels had a nine point lead at the half 36-27 before the Blue Tornado pulled out the win. Christian County will play Calloway County in a loser’s bracket game this afternoon.
Aaron Beth has been named interim coach of the Marshall County girls’ basketball program. Beth replaces Dan Langhi, who was arrested on New Year’s Day on charges of speeding and DUI. West Kentucky Star.com reports Marshall County Superintendent Trent Lovett stated Langhi has been suspended indefinitely , but he left open the possibility that Langhi could return to coaching the Lady Marshals.

Mississippi State has fired Coach Joe Moorhead after just two seasons. The Associated Press citing a report from the online network Stadium says athletic director John Cohen informed Moorhead of the decision at a meeting today. The Bulldogs went 14-12 under Moorhead, who is the third Power Five conference coach to be fired since November.
