WKU rallies for win at UAB behind big night from Bassey

Western Kentucky defeated UAB 73-67 last night in Birmingham. The Hilltoppers trailed by five at halftime before rallying in the second half. Charles Bassey had 18 points and 13 rebounds for WKU, who returns home Sunday to entertain Southern Miss, with pregame coverage at 1:30 on News Radio 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP and whopam.com.

Computer, Xbox stolen during break-in

A computer and game system were stolen during a burglary Tuesday morning on Vass Lane. Force was used to get inside the home in the 600 block of Vass and a suspect removed an Xbox 360 and desktop computer. The break-in happened between 7 and 9 a.m. Tuesday, according to a report filed with the Hopkinsville Police Department.

Morant’s triple double gives Racers win, Racer women lose at Morehead State

Murray State got a triple-double from Ja Morant and stifled Morehead State 71-52. Morant’s triple-double is his second this season and third in two seasons at Murray State. He finished the night with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Austin Peay splits twin bill at EKU

Despite 37 points and 15 rebounds from Bowling Green’s Terry Taylor, Austin Peay fell at Eastern Kentucky 82-80. The Governors are now 21-9 and 13-4 in the OVC. In the women’s game, Austin Peay coach David Midlick got his 100th collegiate win as the Lady Governors downed EKU 80-60. The win also earned the Lady Governors a trip to the upcoming OVC Tournament in Evansville.

Ware has big night in Jacksonville State win

Former Christian County standout Detorrion Ware had 20 points in 15 minutes as Jacksonville State downed Eastern Illinois 89-84 in double overtime. Ware was 5-8 from the field including four of six from three point range. The Gamecocks are now 22-8 and 14-3 in the OVC and play at SIU Edwardsville tomorrow.
