New traffic light to control school traffic in Cadiz

Motorists on Main Street in Cadiz will see a new traffic light during the morning and afternoon hours, beginning today, to control incoming and outgoing school traffic. A survey team from the National Weather Service in Paducah found two additional tornado tracks from Saturday’s severe weather. An EF0 tornado with maximum winds of 85 mph touched down at 8:44 p.m. between Madisonville Road and Lake Morris Road and went back into the clouds five and a half miles later eight miles northeast of Hopkinsville on the northwest side of Greenville Road. The All 2nd region teams voted on the region’s coaches have been announced. Members of the Boys team include: Cory Trice and Detorrion Ware of Christian County, Steven Cager and Jalen Johnson of Hopkinsville and KyKy Tandy of University Heights Academy. Girls team members include: Laderia Gold, Aaliyah Hampton and Trinitee Jackson of Christian County, Breon Oldham and Jayla Rose of Hopkinsville and Anshanique Leavell of University Heights Academy.

UK basketball back in Top 25 of both major polls

Kentucky returns to the Associated Press Top 25 poll this week in the 23rd position. Only Auburn who is 14th and Tennessee at number 16 are the other ranked SEC teams. Virginia is number one in the poll. The Wildcats are also back in the USA Today Coaches poll at number 25. Auburn is ranked 15th and Tennessee is 17th. Virginia is number one this week.

Racer hoopsters honored by OVC

Murray State freshman Ja Morant has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week. Morant averaged 14.5 points, nine rebounds and six assists in wins at Eastern Illinois and Austin Peay to help the Racers win the OVC regular season title. Preds sign Fisher to contract and acquire Hartman from Chicago Blackhawks

The Nashville Predators announced today forward Mike Fisher has signed a one year, $1 million contract for the remainder of this season. Fisher announced he was coming out of retirement January 31st. Nashville needed to sign Fisher by today for the team's postseason roster. A roster spot for Fisher was created Sunday when forward Pontus Aberg was traded to the Edmonton Oilers. USGA announces playoff changes for its national championships

The US Open is changing to a two-hole aggregate playoff, the last of the four majors to do away with an 18-hole playoff. Two hurt in wreck at Pyle Lane/Cox Mill

Two people went to Jennie Stuart Medical Center late Monday morning after a two-vehicle crash at Cox Mill Road and Pyle Lane that left one vehicle on its side. It happened about 11:15 a.m. and Hopkinsville Police Lt. CC Jail celebrating 20 years of Substance Abuse Program

The Christian County Jail will be hosting a celebration Wednesday to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their Substance Abuse Program. Known as SAP, the program gives inmates struggling with addiction a chance to rid themselves of it while incarcerated.
