A farewell reception is coming up later this month to honor outgoing Hopkinsville Mayor Wendell Lynch.
It will be 2 p.m. Sunday, December 11 at the Bruce Convention Center, with the program beginning at 2:15, with the public encouraged to attend.
On February 4, 2020, Hopkinsville City Council voted unanimously to appoint Lynch to serve as interim mayor effective March 1 and he began leading the city through the beginning of the pandemic days later.
In November of 2020, Lynch was elected to serve out the remainder of former Mayor Carter Hendricks’ term and he chose not to run for re-election this year.
Prior to the election, Lynch had served on City Council since 2014.
And before retiring in 2013, he worked forty-four years at First City Bank and Trust Company and BB&T, the last six years as market president.
