Sanderson named Cattleman of the Year

Jimmy Sanderson has been named the Cattleman of the Year by the Christian County Cattlemen’s Association. 

Sanderson was born in Christian County in 1941, and his passion for the cattle industry extended far beyond his own farm. He worked cattle sales at the Christian County Livestock Market, attended cattle sales throughout the region, and later built a receiving and shipping barn on Highway 91. Whether buying, selling, or simply visiting with fellow farmers, Sanderson has always enjoyed being around cattle and the people who share his passion.

He was also a charter member of the Christian County Cattleman’s Association, where he held various leadership positions over the years.

Although he doesn’t have the 500 heads of cattle that he once did, Jimmy’s love for cattle hasn’t changed. These days, instead of seeing him on a quarter horse, he can be seen on his RTV making sure his ten head of cattle have the feed and minerals they need. It’s a simple but meaningful reminder that caring for cattle has never just been a job, it’s been a way of life.
