Funeral arrangements are now complete for Hopkinsville’s most beloved character, Charles Steven “Bird Dog” Paige.
This comes after the unexpected death of Birddog, who was found deceased at his home in Hopkinsville on August 7. Now, celebration of life services for one of the community’s most colorful characters will be held this coming Friday, August 14 at King’s Funeral Home in Cadiz at 7 p.m. Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Born in 1950 to Clarence Paige and Wilma Price, his obituary describes Paige as a man with an unforgettable personality that left a lasting impression on his community, his family and more people can could be counted. He was known even beyond the bounds of the city that he called home, with the story of Bird Dog reaching across several states.
There will never be another Bird Dog, and the community is feeling the silence left in his absence. Community members gathered over the weekend for a lawnmower—and various other wheeled vehicles—parade in honor of the man who entertained generations of Hopkinsville citizens and whose tales will be told for years to come.
