Nothing says summer in the south quite like a rodeo, and the Christian County Cattlemen’s Association and the Lonestar Rodeo Company are teaming up to bring the fun back to Christian County.
This will be the 27th year for the Christian County Cattlemen’s Rodeo and it’s set for Friday, August 14 and Saturday, August 15 at the Western Kentucky State Fairgrounds in Hopkinsville. Speaking with WHOP recently, Josh Bailey with the association says this rodeo and surrounding events all began so they could raise funds to provide scholarships to students in the area, and they’ve been doing that ever since.
There will be a slew of showings during the event, including bull riding, steer wrestling, bareback bronc riding, barrel racing, roping, rodeo clown entertainment and much more. Bailey says you can even get in on the fun before the rodeo itself, as they’ll be doing qualifier events the week before.
Friday night, August 14, brings a concert with country music artist Josh Weathers, with Clark Kissick opening the stage for him immediately following the rodeo, and then Saturday brings a whole new slate of events.
Both evenings begin at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are available in advance only through lonestarrodeoco.com. Bailey says that is the only place to get legitimate tickets in advance, so don’t fall for the scammers.
Tickets are $20 in advance for adults and $10 for kids from four to 12-years-old. You can also get them at the gate the nights of, where they’ll be $25 for adults and $12 for kids.
