If there’s one thing we can say for certain, it’s that Trigg County and the Land Between the Lakes always has recreation opportunities for citizens, and the summer is no exception.
With a slew of antique stores, boutiques and local restaurants, Cadiz Tourism Executive Director Beth Sumner says there’s plenty to see and do in Cadiz. That includes their full Farmers Market, which is open each Saturday and Wednesday at 21 Sprint Street in Cadiz, and Sumner says you can find all kinds of home baked goods, fruits and vegetables, handmade items and so much more.
And on the first Saturday of each month, the Cadiz Cruise-In takes place, with the next set of August 1 at the Farmer’s Market, with Sumner saying it will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and you’ll be able to see a wide variety of vehicles.
She says you can often find live music to enjoy at their local restaurants, and then there’s all kinds of recreational fun available at the marinas, trails, lake and more across Trigg County. She says if you’re not keeping up with the Land Between the Lakes event calendar, you should be.
One of the first events taking place in the Land Between the Lakes in August is the 30th annual Hummingbird Festival at the Woodlands Nature Station on August 1 and August 2 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day.
The station is home to hundreds of wild hummingbirds during the spring and summer months, but before too much longer, our tiniest birds will be making the hundreds-of-miles long trek back to South America.
The festival will feature hummingbird banding with Southeastern Avian Research, a native plant sale, pollinator photography gallery, local nature artisans, hummingbird games and crafts for kids plus programs and demonstrations covering hummingbirds and other backyard wildlife.
