New CCHS gymnasium named to honor local Rotary Club

Summer break is starting to wind down and so is the construction of the consolidated Christian County High School. On Tuesday, the Hopkinsville Rotary Club hosted a meeting at the school where the gymnasium’s name was announced.

Christian County Public Schools Superintendent Chris Bentzel thanked multiple community organizations for supporting local students, including the Rotary Club. To honor the club’s commitment, Bentzel announced that the high school’s gymnasium has been named the Hopkinsville Rotary Arena.

Following the announcement, Rotarians visited the gymnasium to see the sign and were also given a tour of the nearly completed school. Bentzel says he appreciates the school system’s relationship with the club and was proud to name the gymnasium after the organization.

A little over a month remains before the high school is set open, and Bentzel says they are working on some finishing touches. He says furniture needs to be installed in many classrooms, and he also wants to give students and parents time to get familiar with the new school.

The high school is set to open on August 19 for the first day of the 2026-27 school year. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be hosted for the high school on August 6.
