The Western Kentucky State Fair has come to a close for another year, going out with a literal bang Saturday night as a fireworks extravaganza celebrated both the 250th birthday of the United States, but also the end of the 75th fair.
And the community turned out for the occasion, with Fair Board Chair Kent Boyd reporting that with 4,094 people attending Saturday’s events, they saw 34,858 entries into the fair between June 26 and July 4. That surpasses last year’s total, which was 33,774.
It was a long week full of fun, food and fellowship, and after a brief time to rest, the Fair Board will set their sights on next year’s fair, ready to do it all again.
