A Fort Campbell man has been charged in the shooting that happened in front of Rural King in Hopkinsville Monday that sent another man to the hospital.
The report from the Hopkinsville Police Department states that officers responded to the business in the 4000 block of Fort Campbell Boulevard for reports that a person had been shot. Upon arrival, they located the victim lying on the ground and another man walking back towards the store, with one hand in the air and the other reportedly down by his side, holding a firearm.
He was quickly taken into custody and identified as 39-year-old Jamario Johnson of Fort Campell.
Investigation determined that Johnson and the victim were seen on video leaving the store together and reportedly found they didn’t seem to be an argument. They got into a vehicle together, and that’s when Johnson allegedly pulled a gun a shot the victim.
When the victim fled, Johnson allegedly chased him, firing several more shots and striking him again. He was flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for treatment.
Johnson is charged with first-degree assault and is lodged in the Christian County Jail.
