One killed, others injured in Clarksville head-on collision

It was a grim weekend in Clarksville, after a head-on collision on Ashland City Road Friday night resulted in a fatality.

According to the Clarksville Police Department, the crash happened between two-vehicles in the 1500 block of Ashland City Road, just after 5:15 p.m. Two passengers from one the vehicles were flown by helicopter to Nashville hospitals for treatment of serious injuries.

One victim, now identified as 50-year-old Thomas Smith of Clarksville, was rushed to Tennova Healthcare, where he would be pronounced deceased. 

Preliminary investigation indicates that Smith reportedly crossed over the center lane for an unknown reason and into the path of the second vehicle. 

The investigation continues.
