The City of Hopkinsville is inviting residents to peek behind the curtain of local government at its sixth iteration of the City Diplomat Program.
The program includes classroom sessions, demonstrations and hands-on activities spotlighting the workings of local government.
In a news release, Mayor J.R. Knight says the program is a fantastic way for residents to engage with their local government and learn how the city operates. The program is scheduled for May 28, June 25, July 23, August 27 and October 22.
Attendees will meet the managers of multiple city offices; learn the differences between the executive and legislative branches of government; tour the Hopkinsville Fire Department and the Public Safety Complex and will also work on a service project.
Those interested can apply at hoptown.org/diplomat and applications can be submitted to Administrative Coordinator Diane Turner at diane.turner@h-ky.us. The deadline to apply is April 18 at 4:30 p.m.
