Work happening on I-24 Thursday between Lyon, Trigg counties

Motorists traveling on Interstate 24 between Lyon and Trigg County Thursday need to be aware of a rolling work zone starting in the morning hours. 

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, a team will be deploying ground-penetrating radar to conduct an edge-drain video inspection in the right-hand lane of I-24 eastbound from the 51-mile-marker to the 65-mile marker, a 14-mile stretch that starts in Lyon County and ends in Trigg County. 

The work zone will be in place from 7 a.m. until approximately 3 p.m.

Sames areas might require the crew to work along the shoulder of the right-hand lane in the same spot for an extended period. Other than that, the rolling caravan will be moving constantly in the right-hand lane at speeds as low as 15 miles per hour.

Motorists should be alert for trucks with arrow boards guiding traffic to shift into the left-hand or passing lane around the work zone.
