It sure feels an awful lot like spring outside to start the work week—but the weather in the coming weeks is set to remind us that winter isn’t over yet.
After a beautiful start to February, it’s looking like precipitation will move into our region, starting with rain and the chance for storms on Wednesday. Meteorologist Andy Lesage with the National Weather Service in Paducah says that some of those could be strong in nature, and while the risk for severe weather remains low, they can’t totally rule it out.
Rain chances linger through the weekend and spike on Friday with another storm system heading into the weekend, and Lesage says those cold fronts will cool temperatures back to more seasonal ones.
He says there’s even a chance for snow in the air early next week, but the ground will be so warm that they’re not expecting much in the way of impacts.
In the long-range outlook, temperatures are looking pretty average for February, but precipitation chances are trending up, which means February could end up being fairly rainy, despite a sunny start.
