Hoptown to take on Lyon County tonight

The Hopkinsville Tigers will go for their third straight high school basketball win tonight as they travel to Eddyville to take on the Lyon County Lyons. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. with airtime for the F&M Bank Pregame show set for 7:15 p.m. on Newsradio 99.3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP. The Tigers are 8-12 on the season and Lyon County is 15-5. Area players among state’s basketball leaders

The top two high school basketball scorers in the state of Kentucky reside in Hopkinsville. According to statistics released this week by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association, Heritage Christian Academy senior guard Jason Leek is the top scorer in the state, averaging 36.3 points per game. Colonels’ Velasca is this week’s Player of the Week

This week’s Jennie Stuart Orthopedics-Michael Venable State Farm Player of the Week is Christian County High School freshman Anthony Velasca. Velasca is a freshman who wrestles in the 113-pound division for the Colonels. He won all four of his matches last weekend at the Class 2-A State Duals in Corbin. Here is our interview with Velasca. North McPherson Avenue murder suspect to undergo mediation

Kamron Snyder appeared in Christian County Circuit Court on Wednesday where his defense attorney and the commonwealth’s attorney discussed organizing mediation ahead of his trial date. Man charged in brief pursuit in Madisonville

A man is facing numerous charges following a brief pursuit in Madisonville Tuesday.  According to the Madisonville Police Department, an officer patrolling in the area witnessed a moped ignore a traffic control device and almost strike the officer’s cruiser.
