Man struck by train in Hopkinsville, killed

A man was struck by a train in Hopkinsville Thursday afternoon, shutting down numerous railroad crossings in the city.

It happened just after 1 p.m. near Atkins Avenue and Woodmill Road, and Hopkinsville Fire and EMS Captain Payton Rogers says the Christian County Coroner was called almost immediately after EMS arrived on scene. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Christian County Coroner Scott Daniel has identified the victim as 41-year-old Wilford “Yoda” Smith of Hopkinsville.
