Hopkinsville Police arrested 43-year-old Selwyn Jackson of Hopkinsville after he reportedly poured lighter fluid on the victim following an altercation on Monday.
According to a report from police, officers were dispatched to a residence on Buckner Drive for reports of someone screaming in the roadway. Officers made contact with the person and found them to be covered in lighter fluid.
Officers then made contact with Jackson who was recording the incident. He told officers that he and the victim were drinking together when the victim reportedly refused to give him his keys back and would not let him leave him leave the house leading to an altercation.
Jackson further told officers that he grabbed the closest thing he could find, which was lighter fluid, and reportedly poured it on the victim. Jackson alleges that he poured lighter fluid on them in order to remove himself from the situation.
The victim reportedly refused EMS despite possibly suffering from chemical burns. Jackson was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and fourth-degree assault.
